Distortion guitar: This is that heavy crunch and whine you were looking for.I broke my back getting the sound I wanted and I finally have it. I just modded my IBANEZ. How: I bought EMG-81 active pickups, dropped my strings to 10 - 46, bought a 'real' floyd rose, not that 'Licensed by' piece of crap that I threw in the trash. Installed it all and had it soldered and intonated, then I spent a lot of time getting the sound I wanted via GuitarFX, the sound I want is metallica, pantera, slayer, fear factory, deicide, machine head, sepultura. That real heavy distortion that you can get those crazy high pitch whining harmonics off of. Well here's the skinny boys and girls. I am going to put in the file section my preset here is the key to getting your distortion through the roof but your annoying HISS noise *GONE* in black and white for you. GuitarFX 3.04 > If you are going to use your computer, you need good speakers. I have my guitar sound going INTO the input of my marshall AMP just like my guitar would and the amp pumping up GuitarFX even more as a result. I have all of that going into a cab for BASS guitar. 1: Open GuitarFX. 2: Put 'INPUT' and 'OUTPUT' (main screen) on GuitarFX ALL the way up. 3: Load my preset called, suitably enough 'sick.pre' which I will put in the file section, if it ends up missing email me at mike[at] setnine.com and if you ask me right you will get an answer. 4: Turn on GuitarFX 5: Click 'tune' on the first setting 'noisegate' and slide back input level and output level until you hear no noise, but try and keep it as far to the right as possible.
